Hanging The Panels
For those hard to reach areas a NEW alternative “Easy-Fit” method for HEATKEEPER® Panels. Simply hang HEATKEEPER® Panels from yourradiator brackets, suitable for radiators that are hung close to the wall or have an overhanging window-sill. This method uses DURAGRIP spines which fit securely along the top of the panel, enabling it to be hung from the radiator brackets.
How many spines will I need?
DURAGRIP spines are 300mm long (“A4” size) and 3mm deep. It takes 2-2½ HEATKEEPER® panels to fit an average (1000mm) radiator. So you will need approximately 3 spines for a 1000mm radiator, covering the areas both between and either side of the radiator brackets. The spines can be cut to fit (as can the panels themselves). Purchase the spines on the website which include DURAGRIP spines and supplementary fitting instructions.
Fitting the hanging panels
Please refer to the Fitting Instructions supplied with your panels or download a copy here for information about the processes of:
- Cleaning behind the radiator (STEP 1)
- Measuring up (STEP 2)
- Cutting the panels to the correct height (STEP 3).

Note that you may well need to cut the panels for the correct height. (This depends on the location of your radiator brackets). If the width of the radiator means that more than one panel is required then the panels should be taped together using the double-sided tape and overlapping the vertical flat surround sections. This will ensure stability and prevent the panels separating when they are hung.

In STEP 4, instead of applying the double-sided tape, clip the DURAGRIP spines to the top of the panel(s). They fit securely but can be slid along the top of the panels for precise positioning. (If a secure grip is not obtained please see note below).
Note that with this Easy-Fit hanging method panel sections can also cover the area outside the radiator brackets (see illustration right), an advantage compared with other hanging products.
Once the spines are in place so that the panels cover both between and either side of the radiator brackets slide the panel behind the radiator until the spines come to rest on the top of the brackets. Push the panel as close to the wall as possible to maximize its insulation property.
